In my mind, it could have been a scene taken from 'The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty.' After all my fabrics were pressed and cut, I would sit at my sewing machine . . . ta pocketa pocketa pocketa . . . and beautiful quilt blocks would rapidly emerge before my very eyes. In no time at all, I would lay the blocks out on my design floor and begin piecing together a quilt top. Next I would open the fabric closet (cue singing of the angels) and the perfect piece of fabric for a quilt back would glisten and twinkle from one of the shelves. After a particularly satisfying session of quilting, I would sit in my favorite chair, pop in a dvd, and stitch the binding on my new quilt. Hubby would come home late Thursday night from his trip to find me sleeping peacefully wrapped in this new beauty and smile.
Instead . . . he was greeted with this. And this. He was forced to clear a tiny area just to have breakfast and enjoy his newspaper.
It was a wonderful daydream anyway. Today we woke to RAIN! We need it so very badly.
At least I have something to keep me busy today. Back to the sewing machine . . . ta pocketa pocketa pocketa.

Lovely dream Libby, when it becomes reality let me know the secret, cause I'll want some....

That's the kind of dream that defines the word... and then there's reality. But, you know-- if it were that easy would we love it all as much as we do? I wonder... isn't the value in the problem solving, the time and money spent, and the inevitable un-sewing to make everything just so (sew)? That's what I tell myself anyway... great post today, Libby!

yea, I though I would zip right through the trees too! I'm still sewing. They are going well though. There are a lot of small pieces in those blocks, butt hey are turning out very well. Love the color choice!

Love the colors, that's going to be a great quilt when you're done. But then, all your quilts are great!

Oooh, I do love it when you spin (or is that 'sew') us daydreams! You are such a talented storyteller....and I for one would love to wake up in a dream like the one you just spilled out there, girlfriend! *gales of laughter over what dear hubby came home to* :0 I'm so glad you're getting some rain, I have the Weather Channel on on TV, and it looks like "weather" from the middle of the country all the way to your coast, so send it on this way, Libby!! :>

My quilting dreams never go as smoothly as I think they will either. But it was fun sharing it with you.

Looks like another nice quilt in the making even though you have to do it yourself. Enjoy the rain.

How unreasonable of your husband and why do they make newspapers so unwieldy :o)))))

I loved your dream! Too bad it didn't come to real life.

What a lovely dream -- but, since your husband is married to a quilter -- I'm sure he's used to it!

I enjoyed skipping through your blog! You really do have many pritty quilts that give me some new ideas. Hve a nice day!!

I am sure the DAY will come soon! If everthing were always so perfect, we would not have anything to tell about. Just beautiful finished quilts. How boring!
I like very much the colour combination you chose to reproduce the great blue quilt. It is going to be a heirloom. Take care.

Your dream made me snicker - very cute indeed!

Were your ears ringing day before yesterday? Angie and I want to come play with you and do everything you do. You have two "not so secret admirers". LOL

Basically like you told Dawn - we want to "sit in a corner and do everything you do". :-)

Your dream was wonderful. But you quilt blocks are better looking than the dream.

We can but dream! It's going to be a gorgeous quilt.

Oh Libby, that is such a lovely dream. I have it all the time too, and then reality creeps in to show me just how imaginative I can be in my dreams. I hope your dream can yet come true. Your blue quilt is so lovely, and I am sure your recreation will be just as lovely, if not more so.

It should be in every countries' constitution that a quilter has a right of a big sewing room... at least for her family's mental health!! :D

Hi Libby, the blocks are looking wonderful! I'm so proud of you for finding a block pattern and going on from there. A lot of people don't realize how much HARDER it is than when the book or pattern gives you the specific cutting amounts along with the sizes...LOL.
I think the quilt will be well worth the effort. Hugs for rainy days, Finn

But when is this wonderful hobby of ours ever so easy?
Just think, at least you weren't bored!
