These blocks are about to begin the long journey to Oz.
Surely most everyone has heard or read about the devastating fires in Australia. A request was put out by Tracey for blocks to assemble a quilt for a young mother whose family lost everything in the fires. A quick dip into the stash, a few moments leafing through a block book and in a jiffy I was stitching up these 12" blocks.
The request was for plaids, checks, and cream based colors rather than whites. Those were all easy finds in my stash. I started looking around the cubby and spied the starburst blocks I had been working on. Stripes, plaids and a nice golden tan background . . . . . hmmmm.
Why not send them along, too? I started the project to increase my confidence when working with piecing diamonds and set-in seams with the ultimate goal of piecing a Lone Star quilt. It wasn't the struggle I thought it might be, so off they go to find a new home down under. I'm sure they will be very well loved.

I would love to meet you. We will be in Sacramento tomorrow,at 10th and N Street then each day following,Santa Rosa, Mendocino Ave, then Santa Cruz at River Street, then Modesto,9th Street and I, Clovis, Bullard and Pollasky; Paso Robles, pine Street/11th and 17th;then we will not be with the trailer until Sat, Feb 21st in Escondido at Grand/Valley;
That is the last event. I am sure if you watch TV on a local channel you can find where the trailer will be.
We are only having to close the events down and move the trailer to the next event, so we have the entire day off. I would love to meet you somewhere during the day, if that is possible, email me back. I will check my mail everyday, I am also going to email you my cell #. Jewell

Giving your blocks to a home that needs them more than you do is very generous. I'm sure they will be a complete amazement to see just how beautiful your work is and they will treasure them.

I'm sure they will be much appreciated. I have nothing at all anywhere near those colors so I'll have to find another place to donate.

That's such a lovely gesture and it surely will be appreciateed. On a good note, people in Victoria are now refering to themselves as survivors, not victims. One step at a time.

Nice work, Libby. I sent wonky stars off to the Bushfire project listed on my blog. Kim has another project on her blog and I've seen several others with lists, too. Heartstrings has an address as well. Plenty of places to help. Some are accepting tops, too.
