With Memorial Day weekend comes the unofficial start of summer. Time to dust off the Weber kettle, set out the lawn furniture and get down to the business of enjoying all that summer has to offer. For us it started by seeing the No Doubt concert on Friday night.
The concert was great - far better than the pictures I took with my phone. There were two opening acts, The Sounds and Paramore. They got the capacity crowd of around 20,000 up and on their feet. Note to the foul mouthed guy in the row behind us, that's what people do at rock concerts - get up on their feet, dance, sing and cheer. If you expect people to sit in their seats with hands neatly folded in laps, consider symphony tickets next time.
I've been adding stars to my hexagon project for the last few days. I'll have 2 more rows added when I finish with the stars and diamonds I have completed.
I can't believe how quickly the rows go together when the assembly of the blocks seems to take so long. It's very inspiring for me to look at the progress. I think I'll continue to add 2 rows at a time as I complete the stars and diamonds. I'm not sure, but that may just be a bit of light I see at the end of the tunnel.

Wow! Your hexagon quilt is getting to be a good size. I like to put things together as I go along (if possible) so that I feel like something is getting done.

We dusted our BBQ off this evening, Libby - it really does signal summer, doesn't it! Sounds like a lot of fun at the concert, too! Oh my - your hexagons are so rich and beautiful!

Wonderful quilt...it seems like it's coming along very fast.

The concert sounds like fun, but I would have probably had a fight with the foul mouthed guy...lol...it's happened before!

The stars and hexes quilt is gorgeous. There always seems to be a wet-rag person around at a concert, doesn't there? I've run into my fair share. He needed to be in the front row if he didn't want people standing up and dancing in front of him. Our grill stays up and running all year round. We use it a lot, can you tell?

Beautiful quilt Libby.
Lucky you..Other than the Jerk, I bet it was really fun. Love No Doubt!
I see a lot of people getting exasperated for small reasons lately. People seem to be so on edge. I see no good reason for the foul language though and there seems to be a lot of that too. It's so nasty. Can't people just express themselves without sounding like sewer rats?

I have to say that your version of the hexagon quilt is one of the best ones I've seen. Using the stars and diamonds and the black and white really sets this one apart from the others! Gorgeous!
