More June gloom remains in our weather forecast. Still if you will look carefully, you'll see that the sun is shining brightly over our house today. While it may not be literal sunshine, it is as bright as can be. Back in early spring, Hubby became a statistic of the down economy and was laid off. Over the last months he has been engaged in a tireless job search that came to fruition today.
Big changes are in store for the whole family. We will soon be pulling up stakes and moving from sea to shining sea. This will be my new local quilt shop. I'm planning on becoming a member here. We will enjoy all the glory of fall colors. There will be snow in winter and maybe even a white Christmas.
Maybe I'll get to meet a few blogging buddies - Yvonne, Annie, Chris and Paula are all nearby.
Trust me when I say our heads are spinning right now. So many things to think about and put in order. Please bear with me if I'm lax in posting or commenting over the next several weeks. For now I'll leave you with a quilt that I came across recently in some of my decluttering - a New York Beauty. I used a pre-printed foundation and all brushed cottons.
Soon we'll be just a short train ride away from the real thing.

Hi Libby, oh my, such BIG news!!!! I can imagine that you are excited, sad, thrilled about new winter time adventures, but it will be hard to leave where you've always lived. And of course we will all forgive you anything you need. Moving is a big job. So happy to hear a new job has been found and a new adventure lies ahead. Big hugs,Finn

LIBBY!!! That is HUGE! Haven't you always been a California girl? Praying blessings for this new chapter in your life. Praising Him that your Sweetie has a new job. I understand being laid off :(

Oh, Libby -- how exciting! Moving is a huge event -- and a massive chore, but now that you know where the new LQS is, you'll be all set!
Gorgeous quilt -- that's definitely one quilt I want to make sooner rather than later!

Libby... I am so glad your hubby was able to find a job. It is a scary economy out there :o( You are moving to a beautiful part of the country. Good luck with your move :o)

Wow...I am stunned. Hope this means the fabric stash will have a new home inside once you get settled. Lol, no doubt you have more important things to consider in the coming weeks. I am glad that there is new employment. Hope this move is all good and will be fun to "come along for the move".

Well, you have lots of changes coming up, but how exciting, especially to be close to a great quilt shop. Glad to hear DH has found a job especially in this economy and we will be looking forward to all the new and exciting things that will be happening in your life. Oh yeah....love the quilt, too.

I didn't realize your husband had been laid off from his job. Oh, how scary that must have been. And now to hear that you are moving across the country (and not to my area of the world) is really news. You are moving to a beautiful part of the country. And it can't be bad living near the Quilted Crow. Maybe you can buy a saltbox style house!

I am glad you all have found a new happy place to be. I am sure you would be happy anywhere...and that is quite a move. Moving with all you all have...(shared in your lovely photos...) will be an excitement in itself. I always enjoy new beginnings... maybe that is crazy...but another coast doesn't seem so far away... new places to explore...and another way to enjoy more fun.

Oh my gosh Libby, how exciting! I am glad I had the opportunity to meet you while you lived on the Left Coast! You get the Quilted Crow as your LQS, I *love* that shop, I have ordered many things from them. Congrats and good luck to you!

Wow, do you know how to keep a secret! lol

Your quilts will all fit right in up there, you know. I can just see you in some colonial house with your primitive art style, rocking by the fire and stitching away, while the scent of baking bread fills the air.

Good thing you've already been cleaning and decluttering--but that wasn't dumb luck, was it?

Well, I wish it was even closer to NC, but the same time zone is pretty will just have to do. Lots of good wishes coming your way while you get it all together!

Lea said...

Oh, Libby, That's a big news. I'm sad because you'll move to East but I bet you'll have good time in your new area. :-)
Your Autumn quilts will be graceful with New England's Fall. :-)

I am glad that your sweetie found a job! What a blessing that is! Will the Princess be making the move with you? Have you sold your home? What will the new owner's do without Harper to keep the squirrels away? *s* I am so excited for you!! What a big change this will be! Good Luck and May God keep showering blessings down upon you and yours!!! :~)

Changes in your life can also be positive good thing. The quilting language is the same everywhere and I am sure you will do great at your new place. And get a lot of new quilting buddies.

The very best of luck for the big changes in your lives!
Quilters are lucky though - if there is a quilt shop and a guild in the vicinity we can always make new friends with the same interests as ourselves :-)

Definitely a big chance, moving sea to shining sea. But now you can do quilting with wools that you couldn't, or wouldn't, really do living in So. Cal. And, there are so many "new" (to you) quilt shops that you'll have a wonderful time exploring. It will be an adventure of a lifetime. New quilting friends, new places, new weather (and water that we don't get in So. Cal).

Keep posting and let us know how your move goes.

Best Wishes,
