As the summer days heat up, The Princess has kept her nose to the grindstone with her studies. So much so that she has been staying up long past Mommy's bedtime. Still she knows me well. She knows my first stop in the morning is the coffee maker. Bright and early this morning before I could really quite focus my eyes, I could see a communique. What was so urgent that I needed to know first thing in the morning - before the coffee is even made?
I didn't even have to fumble to find my glasses.
I whooped on the inside - The Princess was still sleeping. Math has never come easy for the girls in this house. I think we might just have to have a little party tonight.
In other good news, I grabbed a few minutes with needle and thread this afternoon.
The last of the completed stars have been added to the hexagon top. Next up is to make some filler pieces for the sides, a few more diamonds to complete the row, then back to basting more black hexes for the final 14 stars. With three rows of stars to go, I am now over halfway there. Time for another little whoop. In the middle of the day, I don't even need to keep it quiet.

Did you hear me gasp when I saw the hexagon quilt? It's magnificent! (I don't think I've ever used that word before -- I just don't know how to describe it!) What a beauty.

Love the little note by the coffee maker. That's so sweet. And she definitely deserves a special night!

Well done Princess on that Maths result - no mean feat! The stars are looking fantastic Libby - I'm almost tempted to start something similar - but no you've already led me astray with the baskets - once I get the outer borders on that will give me more than enough handwork to last til about Christmas!

I am with you girls on the math thing. But your daughter's A on the test is proof that you can do it when you REALLY study.

Take care!

Oh my Libby that is one gorgeous quilt. It really is spectacular!

Good job on the math grade too for the Princess, I never liked math in HS, having taken geometry twice to get it passed, but once college came along I LOVED it for some reason. I think is was the teachers and thinking of it as puzzles!

Your hexagon quilt is just wonderful! Congratulations to your daughter on the well deserved A on her test. Math has never come easy for the girls in this house either, so is always cause for celebration when we get anything above a passing grade. I WISH I did better in math which would make drafting quilting patterns oh so much easier!

I covet that star quilt! (There, I've confessed) It's so stunningly gorgeous that I can't stop looking at it. Glad Harper has found a new place to retreat and relax in the shade. Congrats to your DD! All that studying does pay off.

Congratulations to your daughter on that wonderful grade. My oldest two are going into their senior year in college in the Fall, and it's so nice to see our kids succeed, isn't it? The quilt is beautiful. I haven't been too good about checking blogs lately, so I didn't realize you were moving east. I'm a lifelong So. Cal. gal myself, so I know it will be quite a change. Good luck to you.
Blessings,
Marcia

Awesome job--both of you! Math has never been my strong suit either--had to repeat geometry in summer school one year.
