Wow! Thank you for all the well-wishes sent about our new home. I've never had so many comments on a post before. I only wish I had time to respond to each of them but there are a LOT of white walls that cry out for color.
It is now officially ours (in partnership with our credit union.) Once all the paperwork was signed, Harper finally got her chance to do an inspection.
I got started right away with painting. Two of the bedrooms have had primer applied as a base coat for the final color. Can I just say that applying primer may be the MOST boring thing ever.
To alleviate some of the boredom, I switched gears and started painting the family room. Harper has become the self-appointed foreman of the project. She keeps a careful eye on me so that I stay on task.
One afternoon was all it took to liven up this space. Still need to cut in around the ceiling. Hubby has volunteered for that. I'll be back in those bedrooms adding the final color.
The work should be easier with two of us now that the weekend is here. With the holiday added to the mix, I'm hoping we get a lot of it done - my back may say otherwise.

I don't envy you the painting but I do envy you your house!! Gorgeous! I love the family room-the colour makes it look warm and cozy! I can see you and your family sitting around the fire on a cold winter's night! (Does it get cold there?) Very nice!

Last week I helped my SIL paint every room in her new house. It's hard work let me tell ya!

I love your color choice, it's very similar to mine. Your quilts will look wonderful with that warm color.

I'm glad you are having fun changing things up.Can't wait to see the rest. Remember it's awfully dark on the east coast during winter...not like all that CA sunshine. Make sure to have plenty of good bright lights so you don't suffer from SADD. Poor hubby is already dreading the wintertime and the loss of summer sunlight as we have to use more inside lights already.

Take breaks and try using an extension pole for your roller. It saves getting on the ladder and uses your shoulder muscles instead of just the tired arm muscles. I never knew this until the last time painting here. Boy was it easier on the arm!

That color is wonderful...what a great backdrop for all your quilts. Happy painting. I am off to the college football game.

It looks beautiful already! Harper looks very long-suffering, lying by the fireplace there. And I see the windows are open--must be nice and cool.

I know you must be really tired of wielding a paintbruch instead of a needle for the last few months. It'll all be over soon.

That looks like mustard in your living room. I will be looking forward to seeing the decorated room. Is that a wood burning fireplace? Our first wood burning fireplace was in Florida. Can't think of anything less needed here! We had to open the doors and let cool air in when we had a fire.

Thanks for the update on your house. Of course Harper has to keep an eye on your work. Painting is hard work so you have to take care of yourself.

It looks like Harper is settling in nicely, Libby! I love the paint - looks almost like a "milk paint" and it's SO you! I wouldn't want to leave the house - I'd sleep in the floor just to soak it all in! Have a fun weekend playing in the paint!
Cheers!

I love that color, what is it? I am boring, I tend to stick with white shades. One of these days I will stop procrastinating and put color on my walls.

It will be a much faster progress as you're not having to paint around a house full of furniture - looking terrific so far :o) and Harper is definitely making a good supervisor

Love the fresh deep gold! That'll complement a lot of quilts :) Painting is dull work but the reward is changing a room completely in just a few hours.

What a difference a little paint makes! Just don't understand how people can live in a house with white walls!!! Love the color and am anxious to see the room with furniture and accessories. Looks like a lot of hard work and hope you got a lot accomplished this past weekend. Saw Harper's spot next to the fireplace. Looks like he/she is adapting well to the move.

I'm just coming up for air here and getting caught up and I imagine you're knee deep in paint. I hate white walls so I would be doing the same thing. Have fun!
