Words are hardly sufficient for the gratitude that Hubby and I have for all the wonderful messages we have received over the last few days. Over one hundred emails have poured in from around the world with words of encouragement and sympathy at the loss of our dear Harper. I don't have the wherewithal to reply to each of you individually, but know that every heartfelt word was read and appreciated.
Our hearts are heavy with sadness for ourselves but still there is solace in the knowledge that there was no suffering. She knew her time to leave us had come and simply went to sleep. The paw print she left on our hearts can never be filled. And we would never trade the joys experienced by having her in our lives to alleviate this pain. The memories of all the joys she brought to us are invaluable. And maybe someday the tightness in our hearts will ease, leaving room for some new paws to leave their imprint.

Just know that I am thinking of you and your family and I wish all of you peace. Someday, when you are ready, another set of paws will come into your lives.

This is the only part of loving a dog that I dread. They are with us for such a short time-been thinking about you since your post about her. Harper was so lucky to have a wonderful family to love her and love back. I hope your grief soon gives way to the memories that will last forever and replace your tears.

I was so sorry to read about Harper. She was such a part of your family like Cami is to ours. She lived a full wonderful life surrounded by people who loved her to the moon and back. She will always be a part of your future just as she was of your past. There will be days that you will finally chuckle about her and the fun memories that will stay in your heart forever.

I'm glad Harper got to experience snow and winter with you in your new home. She was obviously deeply loved and will be missed. My condolences on the loss of this furry friend and family member.

No reply needed, Libby.

I know there's a big hole in your lives right now--hundred of moments each day when you'll look for her. I also know that at some point, you'll be ready for another little furbaby--not to take Harper's place, but to make his or her own place in your hearts.

Until then, know you have lots of cyber-hugs whenever you need them.

In memory of Harper a donation was made to the Genesee County Humane Society by Kipper. This is the place that kept me safe until Mom adopted me over 11 years ago. I asked that my donation be used to buy food for dogs whose families need food so their dogs can remain in their homes.

Oh Libby, I was just so sad for you when I saw that Harper crossed the Rainbow Bridge. They truly do leave paw prints on our hearts and lives. I am relieved for you and Harper that she knew it was her time and was able to just go softly and gently across the Bridge. I had such a hard time making the decision to let go of my Badger---and now we are wondering if we will have to help Dewey cross over. I do hope he can just slip away with Harper. Sending you tightest of hugs, Libby.

Libby, I AM CRYING AGAIN!!! Yesterday was when we lost our FRIEND...Jake! I woke this morning at 5am and put cold compresses on my eyes because they and my face are so swollen! THEN I just came across your blog and read this about your dear BELOVED Harper!!! The tears are flowing again! I felt lost and numb last night, and still a little today, because he needed 24 hour baby care for months, and now I'm not busy with him. I do still have a 22 year old cat and a 10 year old Pom named Tillie. And of course my DEAR HUBBY! We will miss our Jake as you are missing your Harper! God bless your hearts also!
