I'm trying a new name on for size. Sometime back, I added the Feedjit widget to my blog just for the fun of seeing where readers came from. That's when I noticed a disturbing trend. I got the distinct impression that some of the folks that stop by here are not seeking out my latest quilting exploits, adventures in moving, happenings in the kitchen nor the speed with which Daisy is changing from puppy to full-fledged dog. No, these readers are coming to my blog looking for photos - not the kinds that you do find here, but searching for 'photos of simple girl' (in all manner of misspellings) ICK!!!!! It bugged me for a long time and finally a couple of months ago, I changed my blog name from A Simple Girl to A Simple Life and the number of creepy people seemed to go down . . . . but there are still a few out there. So this morning a new name came to mind -Plain and Simple. I've decided to give that a go and if that doesn't cure my troubles, I think I'll just switch over to Boring & Dull Quilt Making Housewife. That should do the trick.

Too bad you have to worry about things like that these day. I love the new name, though.

Really sad that you can't have a plain old quilt blog without the sickos coming out of the woodwork. Ugh. And Daisy is very cute! What a lovely young lady she is becoming!

There is always sick people out there in the blogworld. I experienced this too with different blog titles. So be careful what you call your blogposts also.

I know I shouldn't laugh but this just cracks me up! There are just some people with too much time on their hands I guess.

New name, BDQ, it could be any of us! At least I can still find you, that's all I care about! (I just switched all my Bloglines over to Reader--so sad. I liked Bloglines.)

Your pup is beautiful! What a sweetheart. :)

Okay, you're more computer sophisiticated than I am--I would never even know what would make people come over. I do have a map that shows me where they come from, but don't get much spam.

Guess there's not much market in the world for scraps unless you're a quilter. Or a dog.

I thought I was looking up something very innocent one time for kids (when they were kids) and the stuff I found under that very innocent name ..... oh, my!

I like Plain and Simple but be warned, that is the name of a quilt shop in North Carolina. They were named one of the Top 10 shops last year.

Not that it's a bad thing but I think I would be remiss if I didn't mention it. If you are still unsure or you come up with another name, google it first and see what happens to be totally sure.

Just don't use Boring & Dull Quilt Making Housewife......you are anything but........!

Life's too short for "half-empty" people... enjoy life with a "full glass"... I love your title.

Don't they have better things to do? I was looking back through your posts the other day and came across the picture of 'puppy' Daisy. My goodness, she is growing up fast!

LOL. I googled my blog once and came up with something disturbing, but I haven't noticed a rush of undesireables, so I am leaving it as is for now. Good luck.

That is so funny, lol.
I hate when I do a search on some subjects and get those types of sites;)

I like the new name, hope it keeps the 'ick' away!

Daisy is just beautiful.....sad to think you have to change the name of your blog to discourage the "ick" factor! I wonder how many search for Grannies! LOLOL

I love your new blog name, Libby. It will take a little while to change it in my thinking *s* but I do love it. And oh my goodness, Daisy is such a doll!!!

I like the new name. I even kinda like the "dull & boring quilter name. If you don't use it I may just hijack it for myself. Maybe the asian spammers will leave me alone.

Just as long as I can still find you, use any name your clever mind thinks of. I'd be lost without your blog to brighten my day.

It is so sad that there are people like that out there - unfortunately that's the downside of the wonderful invention that is the internet

McIrish Annie said...

boring is not a word I would use to describe you but if it keeps the creeps away that may be the way to go..

Pokey said...

Just as long as it's still "you" we'll keep coming. (I'm one of the other "Boring & Dull Quilt Making Housewives" in your life!)
Sorry about the world out there, sheesh!

I'm telling you there are all kinds of weirdos out there....hope this solves the problem.

At first I thought, "are you kidding me"? Unfortunately, I believe the reason behind the necessary change; but, it's disturbing nonetheless.

BTW, Plain and Simple is a very popular quilt shop here in NC.

Hi, Daisy!

I like the new name. That stats widget is interesting. I found out a lot of people showed up on my blog because I did a post back in Jan. called "Almost Elvis". Apparently he's still a very popular guy :-)
I'll still be coming here for the quilts, dog, family, move, etc. an just visiting with you my friend :-)
Blessings,
Marcia

Hi, Patchworksails here, I usually leave comments by that name or not at all. I like to look at quilting blogs but not to steal anything or anyone's, pics, I stop by frequently so I thought Id introduce myself before I get lumped into the creepy pile LOL...We lived in California for 13 0r more yrs. before moving east like yourself. I followed your trip and thought it was fun. Also your quilts. Thanks. I dont talk much because I dont have a blog and most bloggers consider us outsiders.
