Our darling Daisy is in some health distress which culminated in a phone call from the veterinarian this morning saying I needed to bring her in from some aggressive treatment because she is experiencing kidney failure - cause yet to be determined.
We went over the immediate treatment plan which included me going to the 'people' pharmacy to pick up an antibiotic that the animal hospital does not keep on hand.  Some worrisome hours and several phone calls later I picked up the newly filled prescription and drove over it over to the animal hospital where they invited me back to visit the little patient -
here she is with her little IV looking much more chipper and spry than when I dropped her off.  I had no idea that visits were allowed.  And I am SO glad that they are as I think it was good for both of us.  I will definitely see if I can go again tomorrow.

Must be hard on Daisy to be away from you and vice versa. Health care for pets has advanced so much in the past several years. It is amazing what they can do.

Poor Daisy, no fun being sick or stuck at the vets. I have that problem with my guy, but he is older. He also has lyme which comes and goes so antibiotics will usually perk him right up and for now he is on heavy doses of pills to keep his kidneys functioning, but hard when they are older.

The visits are probably as good for her as they are for you, Libby. I'm confident the vet will find the cause and she will recover quickly. Healing thoughts are speeding south from the Barn to you and Daisy.

Poor Miss Daisy! How nice that you two could visit - you're so right about it being good for both of you, Libby! Do they have any idea what is causing the kidney distress?
Cheers!

What?? The darling Daisy. I guess they are still working on what is wrong? I do hope it is simply an infection that can be zotzed out of existence. When I think how happy she must have been to see you walk in...!

Hi, I hope that the vet can get to the route cause of the problem-could it be one of the foods that has been recalled? I will pray for a speedy and complete recovery for Daisy. I know it must help her to have you visit her. Hugs, Noreen

Oh Libby! I'm so sorry to hear about Daisy! It is so stressful to see these animals have to deal with illness and treatment. I'll be praying for her. Hopefully they can determine a cause quickly and help her kidneys to recover. She certainly does look like she is responding well with some good energy and spark that shows in the picture. Those visits will help you through this tough time. I'll be praying she gets to come home soon. The vets even have food now that will reduce the workload of her kidneys till they recover fully. I've got you both (and your DH) in my heart. Hang in there.

Oooh, we lost our boxer to kidney failure after years of being on steroids for allergies. I'm sure Daisy will respond to treatment though, since she is young and otherwise healthy. I'll be thinking of you (two.) Visits will do you both good!
