Today is one of the best days of the year. Today is Hubby's birthday. What would my world be like without him? I try to remember to show him every day just how grateful I am that he is in my life. But on this day it's even better because there is cake!
Hubby's favorite cake is Angel Food. I've tried a lot of recipes over the years and by far the one found in The Art of Simple Food by Alice Waters is the winner. Simple and easy and oh so yummy!
This year we are topping our cake with berries. Local strawberries are coming in right now and boy are they good. We stopped at one of the many stands around town yesterday and picked up a half flat. We are going to use the 'eat some now'
Save some for later plan.
After cutting the berries in half, I put them on a waxed paper lined cookie sheet and just *pop* them in the freezer. When they are good and frozen, I can transfer them to zip topped freezer bags so that we can enjoy them well beyond the season.
